FILM NEWS: “Catching Fire” Casting For Finnick

Okay, you guys have probably already know that I love The Hunger Games. Love it, love it, love it! I also wish I could maybe live it. No kidding! I wish I can enter the arena, just so I can kill some people. Haha.

So, Gary Ross WON’T direct the sequel, Catching Fire. Lionsgate have confirmed that Francis Lawrence will take over as the director. Many fans aren’t happy, but come on, let’s just be glad that they’re making the sequels, m’kay?

Another thing that fans are DYING to know is WHO’S GONNA PLAY FINNICK ODAIR? E! News reported that the studio exec have narrowed down to 3 top contenders: Garrett Hedlund, Armie Hammer and Taylor Kitsch.

Garrett Hedlund starred in Tron: Legacy last year, Armie Hammer was “The Prince” in Tarsem Singh’s Mirror Mirror and Taylor Kitsch recently starred in Battleship.

Finnick Odair is a male character who first appeared in Suzanne Collin’s novel, Catching Fire, sequel to The Hunger Games. He is a male victor from District 4 (the ‘Fishing’ district), who won the previous Hunger Games, TWICE. He becomes friends with Katniss and Peeta and saves their lives a lot of times. He is described to be EXTREMELY handsome, tall, muscular, athletic, tan-skinned, bronze-coloured hair and has two sea green-coloured eyes.

Personally, I absolutely LOVE all three of them. However, I don’t want Taylor Kitsch because I just couldn’t imagine him as Finnick. But between Garrett Hedlund and Armie Hammer, I just couldn’t choose and I will be super ecstatic if any one of them would play Finnick. But I’m rooting for Garrett more, though. Since he is the absolute top fan-favourite, and I can already imagine him as Finnick, so…

Recently, Robert Pattinson admitted that he is NOT approached by Lionsgate for the role of Finnick, which I thank all layers of Heaven for that! I just cannot stand Robert Pattinson. So, hearing him not getting the part just makes my day a LOT better.

Unfortunately, the casting for Catching Fire is still “early” because they say it is still in its ‘premature’ state. So, Hunger Games fans, we all gotta wait a little bit longer. Filming will start this fall and Catching Fire is set to be released next year, November 22nd.
