FILM REVIEW: The Avengers
Directed by: Joss Whedon
Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson.
Synopsis: A team of superheroes consists of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye work together, with S.H.I.E.L.D, an agency to protect the world from Loki, Thor’s adoptive brother and supervillain, trying to take over the world.
After waiting ages for this movie, I can honestly say that all my time waiting and money spent on this movie are all WORTH it! Even though I kinda missed the first 15 minutes of the beginning because of reasons not worth telling here but still, I think this movie is epic indeed! And what I love the most about it is that the writing is so good and it is unbelievably funny! I never thought I’d laugh so much watching a superhero movie, but The Avengers has some serious hilarious scenes.
Well, everyone has their own favourite Avengers. Me? Well, I loved Loki all along. Mostly because he’s played by the ever-charming Tom Hiddleston. And plus, I don’t think he is that evil anyway. He’s just involved in a bad case of sibling rivalry and just wanna be bigger than his brother. It’s okay, I still love him anyway.
My rating: (One point deducted because 2 hours and a half is not enough. Ahaha!)

TRENDSETTER: Loafers and Moccasins
Now, I am currently looking for a new pair. Hopefully not suede this time because I love walking in the rain. Hehe. So suede shoes can't match with the rain.
TV SHOWS: The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory (TBBT) is a CBS production, currently on-going in its fifth season. It tells the story about four science geeks, Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj, and Sheldon and Leonard’s neighbour, Penny. The five of them face everyday challenges in hilarious situations. Penny, a waitress who is the direct opposite of the guys, teaches them about things like dating, pop culture, anything that a science geek wouldn’t be interested in. In return, the guys also teach her about online games, etc.
What I like about this show is because it’s hilarious! You can just chill out and watch every episode and laugh out loud and forget about your problems. My favourite character is most probably Howard Wolowitz, the romantic geeky Casanova. Another one is possibly Leonard, just because the actor Johnny Galecki is hoott! Even though almost everybody loves Sheldon, the main attention of the whole series, I personally think at times he is quite annoying. Alas, he is hilarious and I believe he is just “lost”.
I suggested my sister to watch this show and she is already hooked! Haha! I’m proud. Now, I am doing the same to you and tell you, Go watch this show now and you’ll never be sorry!
My rating: (Perfect!)
On to another review soon! Ciao!

FASHION MUSE: Alexa Chung
Alexa Chung is one of the world's gorgeous women, in my opinion. She is a British model, television presenter and occasional editor at British Vogue. She used to have an MTV show, It's On With Alexa Chung but by 2009, it was cancelled. Now, she is currently the host of a Lifetime show, 24 Hour Catwalk.
I just absolutely ADORE her style. I wish I have all her clothes because they are just...amazing! She has a Mulberry bag named after her and designed her own clothing line with Madewell. She is a muse to many fashion designers because of her distinctive personal style. She frequently appears on best dressed lists. Anna Wintour (famous magazine editor and the real life Miranda Priestly of The Devil Wears Prada) says Alexa is a "phenomenon", while New York Times described her as "the Kate Moss of the new generation". Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld thinks she is "beautiful and clever..a modern girl".
She dated various rockstars, including her most talked-about relationship with Arctic Monkey's Alex Turner. After more than 4 years together, they broke up in July 2011.
Alexa is just so pretty, don't you think so? GORGEOUS! I wish I can be like her. I wish I AM her. Le sigh...

BEAUTY PRODUCTS: Dermalogica
But then, I went to Aster Spring with my mom because I only wanted to try Dermalogica products. But after a few consultations and discounts, I managed to get two appointments for a facial and a whole complete set of Dermalogica’s Oily Skin Kit. The total cost? RM800+! Yes yes, it is pricey, but I swear, this is a one time thing. I originally didn’t want to do facials, but I thought why not? Just this once, to make myself satisfied and then I shall shut up for the rest of my life about beauty routines.
The good thing about this starter kit is that you will get:
- Dermal Clay Cleanser (Removes oil)
- Skin Prep Scrub (Polish skin surface, prepping for treatment)
- SAMPLE of Skin Refining Masque (Reduce oil)
- Multi-Active Toner (Hydrate and refresh skin, prepping for moisturizer)
- Oil Control Lotion (Absorb oil)
- Total Eye Care (Conceal dark circles around eyes, reduce puffiness)
I only worn all of them for the first time just now and I gotta say my skin somehow feels smoother and refreshing. The Dermal Clay Cleanser has this minty feeling and it will make your face cool with a menthol sensation. Yeah! I don’t have to suffer a burning sensation anymore.
I shall post any updates on this blog, so I can really review the products. Hopefully it can help me with my skin problems. My face has made me feel insecure for years now. I hope I will be one of the lucky people whose lives have been changed since they started using Dermalogica. Cross your fingers for me, yeah?

TV SHOWS: American Horror Story
American Horror Story (AHS) is about a family of three, father Ben, mother Vivien and daughter Violet, who move to this new house that looks incredibly awesome and huge, but possesses a terrible dark secret. Wait, scratch that… Terrible dark SECRETS! So many that could be quite confusing at the beginning, but later on, you’ll understand the whole story.
Ben was caught cheating with his student by his wife, Vivien. Vivien just had a miscarriage. So they both decided to move from Boston to LA to start a new life and forget the whole thing. But that tragedy never leave them. In addition to that, the Harmon family have to deal with ghosts of the house’s former inhabitants.
Freaky things happen in that house. So I suggest you just snuggle with a pillow and a blanket in front of your laptop and watch the whole season 1. Don’t worry about catching up to Season 2 because it haven’t started yet. We all have to wait until October 2012 before it debuts. And I heard they are going to have a whole different story in Season 2. Meaning, the Season 1 story will not be continued to Season 2. I’m guessing Ryan Murphy (the creator of the show, and the same one who created Glee) wants to tell different horror stories each season. Personally, I think it’s exciting. Except we won’t get to see the old characters returning. Sad, but life goes on, right…?
My rating: (One point deducted because the whole storyline is weird!)
P.S: Just by looking at the poster, you know shit’s about to go down. AHAHAHA! Get it? “Go down”, because that rubber man is going down… on the pregnant lady… Okay I’ll stop now. Just go watch it and you’ll know what I’m blabbering about.
FOOD REVIEW: Swensen’s @ Bangsar
On February 19th, I went to Bangsar Village with my sisters and my brother-in-law because I’ve been craving for… yup, you’ve guessed it right… SWENSEN’S!
I haven’t been to Swensen’s in ages, the last time was probably when I was 9 years old maybe, during my family vacation in Genting Highlands. I couldn’t remember what the ice-creams tasted like. So, I googled for the nearest Swensen’s in my area and found one in Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar.
So we travelled for miles from Keramat to Bangsar, just to satisfy my cravings.

FILM REVIEW: The Hunger Games
Director: Gary Ross.
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz.
Synopsis: The Hunger Games is a story about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who entered a cruel competition called “The Hunger Games”, where 24 kids have to fight each other to the death until one survivor remains. Sounds kinda gory, no?
The Hunger Games is super awesomely epiiicccccc!!! TWO HOURS AND A HALF worth of time and money! Seriously, this film is two and a half hours length. I went to watch it with my sister and brother in law, at TGV Wangsa Walk, at 11:20pm. Sure, they both were quite tired, but at least I’m happy that I finally watched THG.
My favourite scene would have to be that part in the cave (*wink wink*), District 11’s rebellion, the Tributes interviews where Katniss show off her dress and Peeta admit that he has a crush on Katniss since like forever, the showdown between Katniss and Clove, that part where Katniss yell at Peeta for picking up the Nightlock berries, oh my god, the list could be endless, I tell ‘ya! Everything is The Hunger Games and nothing hurt…
However, I am kinda sad that they left out a few minor (but important) details, such as the origin of the Mockingjay pin, Peeta’s famous (and my favourite!) “You here to finish me off, sweetheart?” line and Madge Undersee. Whoever read the books would know what I’m talking about.
Alas, I’m not complaining about it because I highly believe THIS is how you make a film adaptation! Seriously, it was sooooo good and kinda exactly like how I imagined when I read the books. The cast are perfect, flawless and gorgeous. I cannot wait to watch it again =D
My Rating: (One point deducted because they didn’t put my favourite line in it)
Until next time!
